Established on April 1st, 1963, the Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam has played a crucial role in the banking system of Vietnam and is one of 23 special corporations ranked by the government.

As the oldest commercial bank for foreign business with its largest capital base in Vietnam, Vietcombank has been well known for being the most prestigious bank in trade finance, international settlement, foreign exchange, guarantee and other international banking and financial services.

To date, the Bank's network consists of 25 domestic branches and 29 sub-branches, 3 representative offices overseas, 1 finance company, 1 security company, 1 leasing company and 1 asset management company, equityinvestment in 5 enterprises and 7 banks, participation in 3 joint-venture enterprises

Vietcombank is elected to the Board of Directors of Asian Banker's Association (ABA) for the term of 2000-2002. This is the fourth consecutive year that Vietcombank has been nominated for and is the only bank of Vietnam to be elected into ABA honorable directorship.

Our bank has now maintained correspondent relationship with over 1,500 bank branches in 100 countries all over the world and is the official agent of Moneygram, and member for 5 world-dominant credit card organizations-Visa, MasterCard, JCB, American Express and Dinners Club, and also issuer for Vietcombank-Visa, Vietcombank-MasterCard and Vietcombank American Express.

In 1995, our bank became the first in Vietnam receiving the title 'The Best Bank in Vietnam' awarded by Asia Money.

Recognized as an outstanding financial institution in the field of SWIFT international payment handling, Vietcombank had maintained the " Service Excellent Recognition Award" granted by JP Morgan Chase for a 6 consecutive year period, from 1996 to 2001.

Furthermore, Vietcombank was proudly awarded the title 'The Best Bank' by the British international group Financial Times in the year 2000,2001, 2002 and 2003.

Being granted "Outstanding Payment Formatting and Straight-Through Rate 2003" by The Bank of New York, "Global Payments and Cash Management Golden Award" by HSBC USA and "US Dollar STP Excellence Award" by Deutsche Bank in 2004.
